SCIEX has expanded the BioPhase 8800 capillary electrophoresis system with software, automation, and oligonucleotide-analysis capabilities aimed at regulated biopharmaceutical laboratories.
BioPhase software 1.6 adds user management, audit trails, electronic signatures, project management, and support for additional controls. A new instrument application programming interface lets external laboratory software remotely start sequences, monitor and control instruments, and automate data collection. SCIEX also introduced an Oligo 200 nt Purity and Integrity kit for high-resolution analysis of single-stranded oligonucleotides longer than 200 nucleotides, including messenger RNA poly(A) tails.
Why it matters for laboratories
The update connects three recurring laboratory priorities: analytical capability, data integrity, and automation. Laboratories developing oligonucleotide therapeutics can extend capillary electrophoresis into longer molecules while adding controls needed for regulated work. The application programming interface may also reduce manual handoffs in integrated environments, although each laboratory will still need to validate its configured workflow, electronic records, and software connections.
