Press release summary
Aptila Biotech and IonOpticks have started a collaboration connecting data-independent acquisition software with chromatography and mass-spectrometry method development.
Aptila will support IonOpticks in deploying DIA-NN Enterprise for chromatography-system evaluation and LC-MS method development. IonOpticks, in turn, will supply Aptila with mass-spectrometry data for algorithm optimization. The collaboration pairs DIA-NNโs peptide and protein identification software with IonOpticksโ Aurora Series 5 columns.
The companies reported that DIA-NN Enterprise 2.6.1 identified between 9,800 and 10,112 proteins across a series of 1,380 injections using an Aurora Series 5 column, an eight-minute gradient, and a throughput of 120 samples per day. The figures come from the participating companies and are not presented as an independent comparison with other software or columns.
Why it matters for laboratories
DIA proteomics performance depends on both chromatographic separation and computational interpretation. Sharing long-run data between a column manufacturer and software developer may improve method robustness and expose failure modes that short demonstrations miss. Laboratories should assess whether the reported performance transfers to their instruments, sample matrices, gradient conditions, identification criteria, and quality-control requirements.
