Press release summary

Siemens Healthineers has begun carving out its in vitro diagnostics business, which will operate under the name Olyrian Diagnostics as it moves toward becoming a standalone company.

The company announced the name Nov. 5 and expects the transition to be completed by mid-2028. Olyrian will remain part of Siemens Healthineers during the process. Siemens said the change does not currently alter products, services, contracts, service levels or customer contacts.

The diagnostics operation spans laboratory automation, informatics, assays and point-of-care testing. Siemens said the business manufactures more than 16 billion tests annually and maintains an assay portfolio covering major disease areas. The new name will be introduced in stages while the parent company also prepares to shorten its corporate name to Healthineers.

Why it matters to laboratory readers: A standalone identity for one of the largest diagnostics businesses could eventually affect vendor records, procurement systems, quality agreements, validation documentation, integrations and service planning. Laboratories do not need to treat the announcement as an immediate product or support change, but purchasing and quality teams should track formal notices as the carve-out progresses.
