Press release summary

Packaging Compliance Labs said Oct. 13 it installed three Instron Universal Testing Systems in its new pharmaceutical and medical-device testing laboratory in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The expansion adds mechanical and functional testing for autoinjectors, prefilled syringes and sterile hypodermic needles. The laboratoryโ€™s Instron 6800 Series systems support the ISO 11040 test series for prefilled syringes and other physical and mechanical evaluations of pharmaceutical packaging. A separate Instron Autoinjector Testing System is designed to assess the functionality of autoinjectors and safety syringes under ISO 11608 requirements.

The company completed renovations to the laboratory in September. Packaging Compliance Labs said the investment expands its testing and engineering services for drug-delivery systems, an area that requires verification of forces, dimensions and functional performance before a device can advance through development and regulatory review.

For laboratory readers, the new capacity provides an additional contract-testing option for companies that may not maintain specialized mechanical-testing equipment in-house. The systems can support design verification and standards-based testing for increasingly common injectable formats. The announcement does not disclose laboratory accreditation, validated method scope, throughput or turnaround times, so prospective clients would still need to confirm those operational details for individual programs.

The original Packaging Compliance Labs release was published Oct. 13, 2026.
