Press release summary

NovoPath and Techcyte have announced an integration connecting the NovoPath anatomic pathology laboratory information system with Techcyte Fusion, an enterprise digital pathology platform. The Oct. 15 announcement addresses a common workflow gap in which case data, whole-slide images and artificial intelligence analysis are managed in separate systems.

Under the integration, laboratories can continue accessioning, tracking and signing out cases in NovoPath as the system of record. Users of Techcyte Fusion can open linked whole-slide images and AI-assisted analysis from the NovoPath case rather than maintaining a separate worklist and manually matching identifiers. The companies said the connection uses standards-based interfaces, including HL7, FHIR and DICOM. NovoPath also supports its own viewer and other selected digital pathology tools.

For laboratory readers, the integration matters because reducing handoffs between an LIS and image-management software can lower the risk of identifier mismatches, duplicated work and incomplete case context. It may also simplify validation, access control and audit-trail design by keeping the case anchored to the LIS. Laboratories should still verify interface behavior, image-to-case matching, downtime procedures and cybersecurity controls in their own environments. The release does not provide implementation timelines, performance benchmarks or customer validation results. Techcyte Fusion is for research use only in the United States, and NovoPathโ€™s built-in whole-slide viewer is not FDA-cleared for primary diagnosis.
