Press release summary
Eurofins Scientific said Oct. 2 that it completed the acquisition of Element Materials Technology’s life-sciences testing services business in North America. The transaction closed Oct. 1 at an enterprise value of $400 million.
The acquired operation includes 27 laboratories and other facilities, about 750 employees and more than $150 million in expected 2026 revenue, according to Eurofins. Its services cover biopharmaceutical product testing, environmental testing and food testing in the United States and Canada. Eurofins said the addition expands its laboratory network and geographic reach across those markets.
Why it matters for laboratories
Consolidation among contract-testing providers can change available capacity, turnaround times, method coverage and vendor relationships for laboratories that outsource regulated work. The larger network may provide broader geographic access and additional testing capabilities, but customers should review how accreditations, validated methods, quality agreements, data systems and account contacts are handled during the transition. Laboratory procurement and quality teams may also want to assess business-continuity plans and confirm that existing scopes of service and regulatory commitments remain unchanged at the facilities they use.
