QIAGEN Supports Singapore Precision-Medicine Genomics Study

QIAGEN will supply automated DNA extraction and sequencing-library preparation technology for a national-scale precision-medicine study in Singapore.

Press release summary

QIAGEN will provide automated DNA extraction and sequencing-library preparation technology for SG-INSIGHT, a cohort within Phase III of Singapore’s National Precision Medicine program.

The project is led by Lucence with Ultima Genomics and is coordinated by Precision Health Research, Singapore. QIAGEN’s QIAsprint Connect will automate genomic DNA extraction, while its QIAseq FX DNA Library Kit will prepare samples for sequencing on Ultima’s UG200 platform with Solaris 2.0 chemistry.

QIAGEN said QIAsprint Connect can perform two runs of as many as 96 samples from a single start command, with peak capacity exceeding 3,600 samples per week. Barcode checks, audit trails and run reports are intended to support traceability. The library-preparation kit consolidates enzymatic steps and reduces sample transfers before sequencing.

Phase III expands Singapore’s national precision-medicine effort to about 450,000 residents and includes participants receiving medical care across public health clusters. The announcement describes a population-genomics study and workflow deployment; it does not establish a new regulated clinical test.

Why it matters to laboratory readers: National-scale genomics depends on consistent preanalytical processing, traceable sample handling and reliable library preparation. The deployment offers a practical example of how laboratories can combine automation, sequencing services and program management when moving population studies closer to clinical workflows.
